In the state of Arizona, it is required that every motor vehicle that operates on roads in the state is covered by liability insurance. This liability insurance must be provided by a company that is authorized to do business in Arizona. This is a requirement by the Motor Vehicle Division, a part of Arizona’s Department of Transportation.

Minimum Insurance Required in Arizona

The minimum amount of insurance required in Arizona is broken up into two different parts: bodily injury liability and property damage liability. For bodily injury liability, you must have at least $25,000 of bodily injury liability coverage for one person and $50,000 for two or more persons. The minimum amount of property damage liability required is $15,000 in the state of Arizona.

Necessary Insurance Documents

It is always important that you bring your auto insurance card with you wherever you go. Your auto insurance card should contain your policy number, insurance company’s phone number, the insurance policy’s effective date, and the insurance policy’s expiration date. Additionally, your auto insurance card should also list your vehicle’s VIN as well as the physical address of the insurance company that issued you this policy. Your own name and phone number should be on your auto insurance card, too.

You may also temporarily discontinue the insurance for a vehicle until it can get back on the road again. Doing so is known as de-insuring a vehicle. You will have to submit a De-Insured Certificate to the Arizona MVD so that your driver’s license doesn’t get suspended for failing to maintain proper insurance.
