How To Obtain Your Delaware Driving Record

You may want a copy of your Delaware driving record for several reasons. The first could be to verify how many violations are on your record. The second could be to show an employer. A third reason is that you are seeking to receive medical certification to obtain a commercial driver’s license.

The good news is that you can receive a copy of your driving record through the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles by applying either in person, by mail, or online. You have the option of a three-year, five-year, or full record. The fee is $25.

Applying to Get the Driving Record

Unless you need a copy of your driving record for CDL medical certification requirements, you can apply online. To apply online, you go to myDMV and log in. If you don’t have an online account, you can create a new one. You’ll need a copy of your driver’s license or ID card, your date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. You pay the $25 fee by debit or major card.

All types of driving record requests may be processed in person or by mail. To apply in person, go to any DMV office. You’ll be asked to fill out a release form and pay your $25 with a check or card.

To apply by mail, complete a Personal Information Release form and sign it in front of a notary. The notary will place their stamp or seal on it. Then mail the form with a check for $25 to:

Division of Motor VehiclesATTN.: Driver License Administration
P.O. Box 698
Dover, DE 19903

For faster processing, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. DMV also will not process requests that are incomplete, so check to be sure the form is complete and your check is enclosed.

Required Documentation

The documentation required varies depending upon how your request your driving record. If you want to request it online, and you’re not already registered online, you’ll need your driver’s license, SS card, and date of birth.

If you make your request in person, you’ll need to present your driver’s license and the completed Personal Information Request form. If you appear in person, the form does not need to be notarized.

To obtain a copy by mail, you need a notarized copy of the Personal Information Request form.

Fees for Getting Your Driving Record and Payment Methods

The fee is $25 regardless of whether you require a three-year, five-year, or full record. If you apply online, you must pay the fee with a debit or major credit card. Major credit cards include MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. If you mail it in, you must send a check. If you apply in person, you may pay either with a major credit card or check.
