What Are the Basics?
When you move, regardless of whether you are moving within the state or interstate, you must notify the Kansas Division of Vehicles to change your address on your driver’s license and vehicle registration.
How Do I Change My Address If I Am Moving Within Kansas?
You can change the address on your driver’s license online. You will need to have your driver’s license number, Social Security number, new address, and email address for confirmation. You’ll also need access to a printer.
You may also change your address by mail or in person. If you go in person, bring an appropriate ID showing who you are and verifying that you live at the new address. To change the address by mail, send a signed letter with information on your driver’s license number, Social Security number, and new address to:

Topeka, KS 66601-2188

To change your address on your vehicle registration work through the treasurer in the county where your new address is located. You may do this in person or through the mail. If you appear in person, bring a receipt of your current registration or your license plate numbers and the new address. To change the address by mail, send a signed and dated letter with the license plate number, vehicle make, year, and VIN, and both the new and old addresses to the treasurer in the county where you currently live.

You must complete the change form within 10 days of your move.
How Do I Change My Address If I Am Moving To Kansas from Another State?
If you are moving to Kansas from another state, you will need to obtain a Kansas driver’s license. This must be done in person, bringing proof of identity and proof of residence. Only a vision test is required as long as you have a valid driver’s license from another state. The cost is either $20 or $26 depending on age. To change your vehicle registration, you’ll need to prove that you have insurance in Kansas and take the car to a vehicle inspection station before seeking to change the registration. Then you take a copy of the motor vehicle exam form you receive at the inspection station, the title, and your proof of insurance to the treasurer in the county where you reside. If the title is held by a lienholder, that lienholder will need to fax the front and back.
Title fees are $10, plate fees are $1.50, and inspection fees vary between $20 and $25. Registration fees are $49 annually and are prorated.
How Long Do I Have to Complete This?
You must complete the change of address within 60 days of your move.
