Getting Your Mississippi Driving Record

Like many states, Mississippi now offers an online portal that allows you to get a copy of your own driving record. It is important to note that you can only get a copy of your own record through this service. Not only are you not allowed to get a copy of someone else’s record, you have to agree not to obtain a copy of your own record on someone else’s behalf.

The Mississippi Driving Record Application

The driving record application on the portal requires a great deal of personal information. You will need to have your driver’s license handy, as your name and date of birth must match the information on the license exactly. You will also need to input either your driver’s license number or the last four digits of your Social Security number (SSN). The portal allows you to renew your license at the same time as you are getting a copy of your driving record, though this is not required.

Required Documents

You do not need to submit any hard-copy documents as you can complete the driving record application online. You don’t even need to submit a scan of your driver’s license, as the state already has this information on file. You will need to have your license handy so that you can make sure to put in all of your information exactly as it is printed. You may also need your Social Security card handy if you choose to put in the last four digits of your SSN instead of your driver’s license number. Lastly, you will need either your debit or credit card.

Paying Fees for a Driving Record

Mississippi charges an $11 fee for 24-hour access to your driving record. This fee is a little more expensive than average, as some states offer you the ability to view your own driving record for free. This fee can be paid with either a debit card or a credit card. The brands of cards that the portal accepts include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

Types of Mississippi Driving Records

There are two types of driving records available for Mississippi residents. The first type is the standard driving record. If you purchase a copy through the online portal, you are really purchasing 24-hour access to view your record. You have to actually create the copy yourself by printing the page, saving the page as a PDF, taking a screenshot, or doing something similar.Mississippi also offers certified copies of driving records. These certified copies can be ordered online, but they only come as hard copies. If you order a certified driving record, you will receive it in the mail in 1-2 weeks. A certified driving record is a little more expensive, at $14.31. However, you will be able to use this document for legal cases and other official uses.
