What Are the Basics?

If you are going to be changing your address or have already moved to or within Missouri, you will need to update your new address with the Missouri Department of Revenue. You can do this online, by email, by mail, or online. The Missouri Department of Revenue only updates your address information. If you need to update your license or other documents, you will need to do so independently of the request within 30 days.

How Do I Change My Address If I Am Moving Within Missouri?

If you are moving within Missouri, you have several options. You can update your information online through the Change of Address Request for Driver License Records form, or you can send in your request by mail. You also have the option to go to your local Missouri Department of Revenue to change your address in person.

If you want to change your address information online, you will need to have your Missouri driver’s license number, vehicle information, and date of birth, as well as:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your previous address
  • Your new address
  • Your email
  • The last four digits of your Social Security number.

If you want to change your address through the mail, you can use the Address Change Request form 5805.

How Long Do I Have to Complete This?

It is encouraged for people in Missouri to update their addresses within 30 days. Remember, failing to update your address with the state could lead to trouble with your car insurance or with other state-related documents and is a crime.

How Do I Change My Address If I Am Moving To Missouri from Another State?

If you are moving to Missouri from another state, then you will need to make sure you transfer your out-of-state license and register your vehicle with the Department of Revenue. This all has to be done in person once you move into the state.

How Long Do I Have to Complete This?

You have 30 days to register your vehicle in the state. You will also have a limited time to change your address and license, but you can do so at any local Missouri Department of Revenue office.
