It is a requirement in every state in the United States that you have a legal and valid driver’s license in order to legally operate a vehicle in that particular state. Naturally, the state of New Hampshire is included in this, as well. New Hampshire offers a number of different driver education programs to New Hampshire drivers in order to make sure that driving in New Hampshire is as safe as possible for residents and non-residents alike.

As you no doubt know, driver education programs are useful to drivers of all ages in the state of New Hampshire. However, driver’s education programs are required if you are under the age of 18 and you wish to apply for a driver’s license in the state of New Hampshire. This is just one of the kinds of driver’s education programs that you can find in the state of New Hampshire, though.

Driver Education for Youth Drivers

Driver education is especially useful for drivers under the age of 18 who want to get a driver’s license. However, in the state of New Hampshire, driver education is required for anyone under the age of 18 who wishes to apply for a driver’s license. It is important to note that the state of New Hampshire does not issue learner’s permits for anyone. As a result, you do not need to get one before you start your driver’s education course. In fact, you can actually start practicing driving once you are 15 and ½ years old in the state of New Hampshire. However, you do have to be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or a licensed adult driver at least 25 years old. You also have to keep proof of your age with you at all times when you are in the vehicle.

Driver Education for New Residents

Driver education isn’t just for young drivers who are trying to get their first driver’s license, however. Drivers who are under the age of 18, have recently moved to New Hampshire, and have completed a driver’s education course have several options that they can choose. One of these options is to simply transfer the out-of-state driver’s education course. This is a viable option as long as the out-of-state driver’s education course meets all the requirements in New Hampshire. However, the other option that they can choose is to take a driver’s education course in New Hampshire. This will take more time, but that way they can rest assured that the driver’s education course will definitely meet all of the requirements for the state of New Hampshire.

Professional Driving Schools

There are a number of places where you can take driver’s education courses in the state of New Hampshire. In fact, New Hampshire encourages young drivers to take driver’s education courses by making them available at a number of different public high schools within the state. However, this is not your only option for driver’s education courses in the state. You can also choose to take your driver’s education course at a licensed professional driving school in New Hampshire if you so choose. It is important to point out that these professional driving schools are not part of the New Hampshire DMV. They have received proper licensing so they are eligible to provide driver’s education courses to drivers in New Hampshire, however. There are a good number of these driving schools within the state. If you want to find one near you, you can find a list of them here.

Driver Improvement Courses

New Hampshire is like many other states in that you can take driver improvement courses in order to take some demerit points off your driving record. If you have accumulated a minimum of three demerit points on your driving record, you can take a driver improvement course to reduce the number of points on your driving record. These driver improvement courses take off three demerit points from the most recent point assessment total. You may also be ordered to complete a driver improvement course by a judge of a superior, district, county, or circuit court. This is sometimes part of getting your driving or licensing privileges back. This is the case if you are ordered to complete a driver improvement course by a justice of the district court, are ordered to complete it after an administrative hearing by the Bureau of Hearings about your driving record, or if you have your license revoked because the NH Department of Safety certified you as a Habitual Offender. You can find quite a few driver improvement courses in New Hampshire. You can check out the list of driver improvement courses in the state here.
