If you don’t need a new copy of your driver’s license or registration, you can change your address online. You will need to have your email address, new address, VIN, control number, and license plate number to change the address on the vehicle registration. To change the address on your driver’s license, you’ll need the license number, last four digits of your Social Security number, new address, and date of birth. If you are moving to New Mexico from another state, you will need to obtain a New Mexico driver’s license and registration. This must be done in person, bringing appropriate identification documents depending upon whether your want a RealID or standard driver’s license. You’ll have to take an eye test, but if you have a current driver’s license from another state, you are exempt from the requirement to take a knowledge or road skills test. If your license is expired, you may have to take the tests. If your license has been suspended in another state, you cannot receive a New Mexico license until you resolve the suspension. The state also requires a DWI records check on all those moving to New Mexico from another state. The fee is $15. To change your registration, you’ll have to have a VIN inspection. Once you have that, you go to the MVD field office with the following:- Certificate of title (original only)
- Application for Vehicle Title and Registration (Form MVD10002)
- Proof of New Mexico car insurance
- Proof of identity
- Proof of New Mexico residency (two documents)
