Getting a Provisional Driver’s LicenseA provisional driver’s license is the term for a driver’s license that you can get in Oregon if you are under 18 years old. You have to first be 16 or 17 years old, have had an instruction permit for six months, and complete 100 hours of supervised driving experience. If you have taken and passed an approved Driver Education course, you only have to complete 50 hours of supervised driving experience. You have to make an appointment to take the driving test. You can schedule the test with the Oregon DMV online or you can make an appointment with a Class C testing business. After that, you can start your application online with your parent’s signature, determine if you want a Real ID, and then go to the DMV office where you scheduled your test on testing day. You then provide proof of your physical address and identity, pass the vision test, and pass the driving test. After that, you pay the $60 fee or the $90 fee for a Real ID, and have your picture taken.
